Chinese President Xi Jinping said that China and Russia are good neighbors, friends and partners during a press conference with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Tuesday.
Xi told reporters that he had made more trips to Russia as president than to any other country.
He spoke highly of the bilateral ties, saying the two countries are an example of good relations between major countries.
The two presidents signed joint statements on cementing ties. During talks, Xi invited Putin to attend this year's BRICS summit in Xiamen, in southeast China's Fujian Province, in September.
The Korean Peninsula issue
Xi and Putin said that both countries oppose the unilateral installation of the THAAD anti-missile shield in South Korea.
They also called for restraint from all parties to ease escalating regional tensions, adding that Pyongyang is obliged to abide by UN Security Council resolutions.
The two countries' foreign ministers signed a statement on addressing the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula.
Chemical weapons in Syria
Xi and Putin said all parties concerned should respect Syria's sovereignty, and support an independent and comprehensive investigation into the alleged use of chemical weapons in the country.
The two leaders denounced the use of chemical weapons by any country.
