      Chinese Red Cross Foundation reports $176.22 mln in 2024 income, expenditure

      (ECNS) -- The Chinese Red Cross Foundation (CRCF) had a total income and expenditure of 1.285 billion yuan (about $176.22 million) in 2024, including 334 million yuan from the central special lottery public welfare fund, according to its annual report. By the end of 2024, the foundation's total assets had reached 1.045 billion yuan.

      Since 2005, its total expenditure has exceeded 12.3 billion yuan, with over 11.9 billion yuan spent on public welfare programs. It has also managed 2.894 billion yuan from the central government's special lottery public welfare fund.

      Throughout 2024, the foundation responded to 18 disaster relief emergencies, carried out relief efforts in seven provinces, and donated 19,800 emergency relief family kits. It also provided funding to 295 social emergency organizations.

      The foundation provided assistance to 12,441 children with leukemia or congenital heart disease. It conducted congenital heart disease screenings for children in regions including Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and Inner Mongolia, assisting a total of 160,000 children.

      Additionally, it raised public funds to help over 3,300 patients suffering from major illnesses including congenital heart disease and aplastic anemia.

      The foundation participated in the Belt and Road Initiative and supported international humanitarian efforts. Its international free lunch program provided over 2.4 million nutritious meals to more than 5,500 teachers and students at 20 schools in Kenya and Tanzania.

      Cooperating with the UN Refugee Agency, CRCF delivered essential relief supplies and cash assistance to 2,049 displaced families in six countries, including Afghanistan and Iran. It also provided nearly 25 million yuan worth of supplies to displaced youth in two African countries through the UNHCR.

      Additionally, the foundation supported assistance programs for persons with disabilities and orphans in Nepal and carried out screening and treatment for children with congenital heart disease in Mongolia.
