Achievements, opportunities of China, ASEAN countries spotlit at CAEXPO

(ECNS) -- The 21st China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) concluded Saturday in Nanning, south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, showcasing development achievements and recommending business opportunities in China and across the ASEAN region.

At the exhibition area of “Charming Cities” of CAEXPO, representative provinces and cities from China and ASEAN countries displayed their progress and business opportunities in commodities, trade, investment, science and technology, culture and tourism.

Zhengzhou, capital of China’s Henan Province, showcased Chinese Kung Fu through multiple ways, like pictures, videos, multimedia, models and performances.

Johor, a state in Malaysia, displayed tree houses found in the tropical rainforest as well as the country’s diverse cultural and tourism resources, allowing visitors to enjoy local song and dance performances, to taste cookies, coffee and other delicacies, and to play interactive games.

Visitors were also attracted by tropical fruits such as longan, lotus fog, mangosteen and durian, Thai massage, and plant dyeing at the exhibition area of Thailand’s Chachoengsao province.   

At the Ho Chi Minh City booth, Vietnamese exhibitors dressed in traditional Ao Dai introduced local economic and trade opportunities, culture, and featured products, alongside traditional music performances.

“CAEXPO is a great platform to show the multi-faceted charm of Ho Chi Minh City, and we hope to use this opportunity to invite more people to invest in the city,” said a staff member of the Ho Chi Minh City Trade and Investment Promotion Center.

At the Indonesian exhibition area, performers dressed in national costumes danced to typical island music amid a display of special handicrafts.

Besides, Cambodia, Brunei Darussalam, Laos, Myanmar, Singapore, and other booths have attracted many visitors.

"You can appreciate the local customs and practices of the ten ASEAN countries here without going abroad. It's really enjoyable," said Li Ting, a citizen of Nanning.

The CAEXPO featured 3,300 exhibitors, with 2,004 participating in the main exhibition area in Nanning. Among them were 740 enterprises from ASEAN countries, according to Wei Zhaohui, secretary-general of the CAEXPO Secretariat.

Since its inception in 2004, CAEXPO has actively built a platform for ASEAN enterprises to enter the Chinese market. The 22nd CAEXPO is tentatively scheduled for Sept. 17 to 21, 2025, with Myanmar as the country of honor.
