      Xinjiang completes 750 kV UHV power transmission project

      (ECNS) -- A 750 kilovolt ultra-high voltage (UHV) power transmission project, key to building a power transmission loop line around the Tarim Basin, in northwest China's Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region has been completed on Wednesday. It links power stations in Bazhou County, and Ruoqiang County of Bayingolin Mongol Autonomous Prefecture.

      The project, running approximately 880 kilometers, has a total investment of 4.616 billion yuan with1,873transmission towers. Construction of the line started in March 2023 and it is expected to put into operation in November 2024.

      It marks the first 750-kilovolt ultra-high voltage power transmission line across Xinjiang's desert railway.

      The entire transmission line was built under harsh natural conditions in desert, lake, mountain, wetland and poplar forest protection area, including a 16.8-kilometer-long line through the Bosten Lake scenic area, 14.3 kilometers through the Taitem a Lake Wetland Park as well as 145.8 kilometers through the poplar forest.

      Covering an area of 1.08 million square kilometers, the transmission line will be connected with another three operated power transmission projects, forming an ultra-high voltage loop network around Tarim Basin upon completion. It will greatly promote the development of new regional energy projects, facilitate new energy consumption, optimize energy allocation, and ensure power supplies.
